My Butterfly Wreath knitting pattern is making an exclusive appearance in Simply Knitting magazine this month, in issue 215 (October 2021). I chose five popular British butterflies to decorate my wreath (pictured from top to bottom): Orange-Tip, Common Blue, Cabbage White, Holly Blue, and Yellow Brimstone. I also added little flowers and leaves to finish decorating the wreath. To make the wreath itself I bought a 25cm polystyrene wreath from my local craft store and covered it with a knitted strip. All pieces in this pattern are knitted flat (back and forth) on a pair of 2.75mm (US 2) straight single-pointed knitting needles using DK yarns. I used Hayfield Bonus DK yarn for my project, but any similar DK weight yarn would work well. Techniques you need to know for this project include knit, purl, cast on and off, increases and decreases, knitting stripes, and a three needle bind off. 🦋🦋🦋
I hope you enjoy knitting your butterflies.
