Decorate your home this Halloween with this adorably spooky spider and web The yarn store Deramores asked me to design a spider and web for Halloween this year ... I hope it isn't too scary! I framed my web in an embroidery hoop so you can hang this by a window or on your front door for your trick-or-treaters to enjoy this season. I knitted both using Deramores Studio DK yarn, which is an acrylic double knitting weight yarn ideal for knitting toys. I made the spider on a pair of straight single-pointed knitting needles, size 2.75mm. The head and body are knitted in one piece and seamed. The legs are i-cord tubes which are knitted on a pair of 2.75mm double pointed needles (DPNs). If you are new to i-cord you can find my tutorial on how to knit i-cord here. The web took a long time to design (I knew this was going to be the hardest part!). The web is knitted in the round, so you will need 3.5mm DPNs or circular needle for magic loop, and the web pattern is intended for the more advanced knitter. I stretched my finished web over a 15cm embroidery hoop to frame the decoration, but you can skip this part if you wish. In addition to the yarn, needles and knitting pattern to make your spider and web you will need some notions from your craft cupboard including:
I finished my spider with a cheeky little smile!
I hope you enjoy knitting these, and however you choose to celebrate Halloween this year, please keep safe, and happy knitting!
